Outpatient Services at BCHS
Centerpiece of the new Main Campus at Battle Creek Health
System is an outstanding Outpatient Center. The center represents
a new direction for health care in a city with a history deeply
rooted in health care innovations.
"The
Outpatient Center was designed to be convenient, easily accessible,
and a facility that promotes the healing of mind, body, and
spirit," says Patrick R. Garrett, President and CEO of Battle
Creek Health System. "As one community leader remarked to
me as we toured, 'finally you have a facility that equals
the great care provided by your staff'." The Outpatient Center
greets visitors with a grand arching canopy that provides
"out of the weather" drop off and pick up for guests and patients.
Once inside, visitors enter a spacious lobby with a glass
ceiling four stories high. Gardens, a flowing fountain, and
plenty of natural wood and light create a warm, welcoming
environment. These healing elements are found throughout the
building. In addition, all patient treatment areas are located
along the exterior of the Outpatient Center which allows sunlight
to pour in naturally.
Department entrances are strategically located just off the
main lobby to prevent patients and visitors from maze-like
searches so common among older hospitals. The route through
the Outpatient Center is a simple "T" design to eliminate
confusion. A Visitor's Bureau is located conspicuously at
the front door, staffed from 6:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., to ensure
guests reach their destination quickly and easily.
The Outpatient Center is the centerpiece of a $74 million
dollar construction project that consolidated most inpatient
and outpatient services on a single campus housed in updated
and modern facilities. Inside is more than $10 million in
brand new state-of-the-art technology, including some of the
nation's most advanced diagnostic equipment. This new technology
offers area residents the ability to stay close to home and
receive the most advanced diagnosis and available treatment.
Outpatient Radiology also serves as a national show site for
state-of-the-art imaging equipment. Hospital representatives
from around the world have made special visits to Battle Creek
Health System to view these newest technologies.
