Mary Edmonson, second from right, presented a blanket
she won to The Cancer Care Center at Battle Creek Health System recently.
Joining her are (L-R) Mary Ure, RTR at The Cancer Care Center; Mary
Irving who made the blanket; and Trish Thompson, RN, OCN also with
The Cancer Care Center. Edmonson donated the prize to comfort cancer
patients while they go through treatments at the BCHS site. |
Mary Edmonson was the lucky winner of a polar fleece
blanket from the Columbia Avenue Curves recently. But
the warmth of her heart moved her to donate her prize
to The Cancer Care Center at Battle Creek Health System.
"I was pleased to win, but then thought about
all who are going through cancer treatment and decided
to give my prize to them," said Edmonson. "Mary
Irving made the blanket in honor of those who have
died of cancer, so what better way to pay tribute to
them than to give this warming wrap to the Health System
to comfort other cancer patients."
The Cancer Care Center at Battle Creek Health System
is recognized by the Commission on Cancer of the American
College of Surgeons as a Community Hospital Comprehensive
