BCHS again ranked among the best in orthopaedic
services
For the second consecutive year Battle Creek Health
System (BCHS) is ranked among the top ten percent of
all hospitals in the U.S. for orthopaedics and joint
replacement surgery, according to a new study released
recently by HealthGrades, the nation’s leading
health care quality company.
BCHS received five-star ratings (the highest-possible
designation) for total knee and total hip replacement
surgery and hip fracture repair, also ranking among
the ten best in Michigan for overall orthopaedics.

As part of its seventh annual Hospital Quality
in America Study, HealthGrades, a leading health
care information company that provides objective ‘report
card’ ratings nationwide, analyzed nearly 5,000
hospitals in all 50 states and the District of Columbia
for its 2005 ratings, objectively assessing their
clinical outcomes and quality. The HealthGrades ratings
measure more than two-dozen procedures and diagnoses.

hospital performance in order to help consumers make
better and more informed healthcare choices,” explained
