BCHS associates salute VAMC patients
To honor those men and women who have and are still serving their country, a group of Battle Creek Health System associates and their families and friends decided to support the national Soldier Angel's 'Operation Hug-A-Hero' program. The BCHS team recycled telephone books and raised money so they could purchase fleece fabric that they then turned into 83 tied blankets as presents for Veterans' Administration Medical Hospital patients in Fort Custer.
The BCHS committee would like to thank all of those who contributed to the fundraiser and to Big Apple Bagel, Finley's American Restaurant, Great Harvest Bread, Lone Star Steakhouse, Pennfield Papa Johns, and Wal-Mart for their donations.
(L-R) Wendy Walsemann and Penny Grant of Battle Creek Health System present hand-tied fleece blankets to Nancy Babcock of the Veterans' Administration Medical Center.
If you would like to make a contribution to the local veterans as well, please contact the Community and Volunteer Services Department at 269-223-5497.
