Dr. Wendy French Joins BCHS
Medical oncologist Dr. Wendy French joined The Cancer
Care Center at Battle Creek Health System on July 14,
2008. Dr. French practiced medicine at Hackley Hospital
Cancer Center in Muskegon before coming to BCHS. She
is board certified in medical oncology and internal
medicine with special interest in hematology.
After graduating from Hope College, Dr. French earned
her medical degree from Des Moines University. She completed
an internship at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in
California and a residency in internal medicine from
the University of Kentucky. Dr. French also had a three-year
fellowship at the Virginia Commonwealth University in
hematology and oncology.
In 2003, Dr. French received the Amgen Fellow Scholarship
for the presentation of her research. She also received,
in 2004, a 'Best Fellow' nomination at the Medical College
of Virginia. She published research under the title
of 'Management of Dyspnea,' Journal of Supportive Oncology,
and a Placebo-controlled trial: 'Nebulized Fentanyl
vs. Placebo for Relief of Cancer-related Dyspnea.'
Dr. French is a member of both the American Society
of Clinical Oncology and the American Osteopathic Association.
She also lectures on cancer awareness and prevention
and served on the Cancer and Ethics Committees at Hackley
Hospital.
