BCHS VP accepts position in Idaho
Jeremy Evans, vice president of operations with Battle Creek Health System (BCHS) has accepted the vice president of professional services position at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He will report to his new job in mid April.
Kootenai was created when two small county hospitals in the northern Idaho closed in 1966. Major building projects followed in the 1970s increased the number of hospital beds to 181; today there are 246 licensed beds and an additional 91 beds in acute and residential mental health and chemical dependency services. Kootenai is recognized as one of the top hospitals in the state with magnet designation, a top-nursing honor accepted nationally as the gold standard in nursing excellence. It is also known for its 'centers of excellence' in behavioral health, cancer, and cardiology.
Evans began his career at BCHS 18 years ago on a Trinity Health Fellowship. During his tenure he has been responsible for bio-med engineering, construction, environmental services, food service, human resources, materials management, outpatient services, pharmacy, plant operations, safety and security, and special projects. He received his bachelor's degree from Miami University in Oxford, OH and a master's degree from The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH.
"Over the years, Jeremy has accepted progressively broader accountability for major health system strategic initiatives and produced highly successful results," says Patrick Garrett, president and CEO at Battle Creek Health System. "From working on the main campus facility building project through our major financial turnaround, he has served the patients, physicians, and people of BCHS with the heart of a servant leader. He has also been active in our community serving on a number of nonprofit organization boards. We offer him nothing but best wishes in his new position in Idaho. Our loss is Idaho's gain."
"My family and I consider ourselves extremely fortunate to have lived and worked in this great community over the past 18 years," says Evans. "I leave knowing that the BCHS leadership team and its boards of trustees are making great strides in providing the best health care possible for this community."
