Dr. Girardot Retires
Dr. John Girardot, a general surgeon at Battle Creek Health System for more than 50 years, officially retired on Monday, June 30.
"Dr. Girardot is one of the most recognized physicians around," says Pat Garrett, president and CEO of Battle Creek Health System. "He has served our community for half a century. Children of the children of parents and grandparents have entrusted their family's health care to his skilled hands for 50 years for which we are all appreciative."
Dr. Girardot received his medical degree from Creighton School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. He completed his residency training in general surgery at Leila Y. Post Montgomery Hospital in Battle Creek through the University of Michigan. He has been a practicing surgeon on the medical staff at Battle Creek Health System since 1956, and was the first chief of staff when Battle Creek Health System was created through the merger of Leila and Community Hospitals.
Dr. Girardot was the 2007 recipient of the Dale G. Griffin Healthcare Leadership Award. The award, which recognizes exemplary contributions that improve the quality and accessibility of health care in greater Battle Creek, is presented annually at the Sherwood B. Winslow, M.D. Distinguished Lectureship program.
