BCHS Auxiliary Recognized
Battle Creek Health System's Auxiliary was honored recently for its support of the hospital's new Orthopaedic Renewal Center.
Joy Webster, president-elect of the Auxiliary, center, and Rick Harris, immediate past Auxiliary president, right, accept a recognition plaque from Gene Miyamoto, BCHS chief operating officer.
The Orthopaedic Renewal Center specializes in patient education, physician 'fast-track' appointment coordination for diagnosis, knee and hip restoration, and group rehabilitation. BCHS is working with a nationally recognized health care marketing group in developing this new center.
The Auxiliary has chosen the 'Patient Activity & Rehabilitation Center' (PARC) in the orthopaedic center as one of its current projects. The patients' exercise program is conducted in a group setting in the PARC where they can benefit from the support and encouragement from their new friends at the center.
"Over the past decade, the Auxiliary has accomplished some amazing things for this community," says Miyamoto. "Through its fund-raising events Auxilians have helped support a variety of health system special projects from the purchase of the Care-A-Van--mobile health unit on wheels and neo-natal monitors for the BCHS Family Birth Center, to support of our Cancer Care Center expansion, and now this ortho gym to mention a few. We are truly fortunate to have your commitment to the hospital."
The nearly 500 Battle Creek Health System Auxiliary and Red Cross volunteers donate more than 65,000 hours of their time every year.
