BCHS Auxiliary names 2008 scholarship winners

The Battle Creek Health System Auxiliary presented three memorial fund scholarships this year to area high school students. Sarah Lukowski, Solhee Lee, and Dana Lowell were honored during the hospital auxiliary's volunteer officer installation event this past week.
Lukowski, a 2008 graduate of Pennfield High School who plans to attend Case Western Reserve University majoring in biology and cognitive science is the recipient of the $1,000 Mary Lightbody Family Scholarship. Lukowski's GPA is 4.0 and she is the valedictorian of her class. She was active in the KCC Children's Water Festival, co-captain of Quiz Bowl, youth liaison at St. Peter Lutheran Church, attended National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine, and was a young epidemiologist scholar regional finalist. She is the daughter of Robert and Karen Lukowski.
Lee and Lowell each received $1,000 BCHS Memorial Fund Scholarships. Lee is a graduate of Lakeview High School and plans to attend University of Michigan majoring in biochemistry. She has a GPA of 4.0 and participated in Science Olympiad, varsity tennis, volunteered at Heritage Assisted Living, and was a Lakeview Academic top 10 student as well as a member of the National Honor Society. She is the daughter of Kyung Soon Lee and Young Suk No.
Lowell, a graduate of Marshall High School, will attend Michigan State University in the fall majoring in kinesiology. She attended the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine, was co-editor of MHS newspaper, a member of the Taylor Dance Team, MHS orchestra, National Honor Society, top 10 graduate, and was on Youth Advisory Council for the Marshall Community Foundation. She is the daughter of Mark and Diane Lowell.
"We are pleased to present these scholarships to three very deserving Calhoun County students who are planning on pursuing careers in the field of medicine," says Ann Lemaire, BCHS Auxiliary scholarship committee chair, "We had over 30 candidates vying for these scholarships this year, and we hope to have even more next year."
